Key Insights
This was the best recovery night I’ve ever recorded. HRV nearly doubled and resting heart rate remained low, signaling strong parasympathetic rebound. I did feel cold overnight, which may have contributed to HRV gains but disrupted sleep until I added heat around 4 am.
Despite finishing dinner by 6 pm, refined carbohydrates (raisin toast) still produced a meaningful glucose spike. Interestingly, my post-dinner stress response was not correlated with glucose, suggesting different underlying drivers.
During a long mixed workout, my watch briefly recorded a heart rate of 220 bpm while I was walking. I did not feel symptomatic, and the reading resolved quickly after removing the watch, making a sensor artifact most likely. Still, this is something I’ll continue to watch closely.
Tomorrow’s Experiment
Protein-first dinner with no refined carbohydrates, while keeping dinner at or before 6:00 pm. The goal is to blunt nighttime glucose excursions without increasing stress.
Tomorrow’s Binary Goals
- Dinner ≤6:00 pm, protein-first, no refined carbs
- 10-minute walk within 30 minutes after dinner
- Track overnight temperature comfort and awakenings
